PS5 cross-gen support will be mandatory for new PS4 games from July onward

PS5 cross-gen support will be mandatory for all newly submitted PS4 games from July 13.  

As Eurogamer reports, updated internal documentation sent to PlayStation partners now asks developers to confirm that their game - that is, the submitted version of their software - is also compatible with PS5 hardware. All PS4 games submitted after July 13 must be fully compatible with PS5, offering the same features and functionality as on PS4. Games submitted before that date won't require PS5 support, but it's apparently "strongly recommended" by Sony. 

Note that this rule applies to games that are submitted for PS4 release, not games that are released on PS4. Sony will determine the necessity of PS5 support based on a game's submission date, not its release date. In other words, PS4 games that are released after July 13, like Ghost of Tsushima, will not necessarily be required to run on PS5, as they were undoubtedly submitted well ahead of time.

Sony will reportedly contact developers on an individual basis in order to test and/or troubleshoot PS5 forwards compatibility for new PS4 games, just as it will rely on developers to ensure PS5 backwards compatibility for many older titles. As senior vice president Hideaki Nishino said in March, Sony is "currently evaluating games on a title-by-title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers."

The company has said that PS5 backwards compatibility will include "an overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 games" already released, and with these new submission requirements, all new PS4 games will eventually be cross-gen as well. However, it remains to be seen how backwards compatibility is actually delivered, and how it stacks up to the multiple generations of Xbox Series X backwards compatibility empowered by Microsoft's Smart Delivery program. 

New reports indicate that PS5 backwards compatibility may be tied to rolling catalog updates.

After postponing its initial release date, Lady Gaga has revealed when we'll be hearing new album Chromatica - this month. Just a couple of weeks before Chromatica was originally due to come out, Gaga announced that she would postpone it. Lady Gaga has finally shared the track list of ‘Chromatica' and it features some huge names on the new songs, including Ariana Grande , Elton John and Blackpink. Chromatica" was originally supposed to be released on April 10. The 34-year-old singer and actress said in a press release Wednesday that the album will be released May 29. Gaga has collaborated with artists like Ariana Grande, Elton John and Blackpink in Chromatica.

Ahead of what was scheduled to be the release date for her highly anticipated sixth studio album Chromatica, GRAMMY-winning pop songstress Lady Gaga has announced she will postpone the album's release, originally set for April 10, due to COVID-19. According to the product image on the site, which has since been deleted, Ariana Grande will be featured on Chromatica's fourth track, Rain On Me”, while BLACKPINK and Elton are part of the 10th and 14th tracks, called Sour Candy” and Sine From Above”, respectively.

When Lady Gaga put out the pulsating perfection that was "Stupid Love" back in late February of this year, the pop culture universe seemed to be at peace once again. A new era, sparkly press, swirling rumors of musical collaborations and a world tour were on their way for the Little Monsters craving a solo album from the A Star Is Born actress. Then COVID-19 hit the states and effectively put a pause on all record-related plans. Gaga postponed the initial April 10 launch date for Chromatica back in March and went to work curating the massive "Together at Home" special lineup to benefit the World Health Organization. Now, she's back in release mode.

Lady Gaga shared a music video for the album's first single, "Stupid Love," in March. The album, fueled by the hit single, Stupid Love,” was originally slated for an April 10 arrival, but the singer postponed it as the coronavirus effects bulldozed the music industry. Lady Gaga is taking her pain from former heartbreak and turning it into one of the most highly anticipated pop albums of the year.

Chromatica is Lady Gaga's sixth studio album, set for release on May 29, 2020 via Interscope Records. On March 2, 2020, Gaga originally announced the title of the album and its release date of April 10, but on March 24, she announced the album would be postponed due to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. On May 6, Gaga confirmed the final release date of May 29.

Skrillex , Madeon , Axwell , Boys Noize , Bloodpop , Ariana Grande , Elton John, and Blackpink surfaced as Chromatica collaborators in Gaga's April revelation of the LP's track list Chromatica is Gaga's first album in four years and will follow 2016's Joanne. Chromatica, Lady Gaga's sixth LP, will follow on from 2016's Joanne. Following through to the pre-sale link reveals newly revealed album cover art, which has Gaga pressed against a pink-backlit metal gate by a silvery rendering of the previously seen "Chromatica" logo.

So, Chromatica may just end up being the first #1 album in history powered, in some part, by jockstrap sales. How long until Rihanna releases some Fenty x Savage jocks of her own? At this point, we wouldn't be too surprised if it actually happened. Further, in the listing, it was found that Ariana Grande has been elected as Vice President of Chromatica; Charli XCX as President of Agriculture; Azealia Banks as Secretary of Education; Shakira as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Finally, Drag queen Jasmine Masters is appointed to address the nation on Gaga's behalf.

Lady Gaga has a handful of North American dates for her Chromatica Ball” tour scheduled for August. Her April and May Enigma” shows in Las Vegas canceled due to the pandemic, but she expected to announce additional dates to her Park MGM residency. Chromatica , her sixth album, will come out on 29 May. Formerly known as ‘LG6' — the name both fans and Gaga herself were using during the album's gestation — the image twice featured the word ‘chromatica' (it also appears in the final frame of the Stupid Love video).

She also revealed that she'd been planning a surprise Coachella performance this year before coronavirus concerns postponed the festival from April to early October. Gaga had last performed at Coachella in 2017, filling in as a headliner after a pregnant Beyoncé dropped out. Lady Gaga looked like a modern version of Barbarella on Monday while promoting her upcoming album on social media.
